The Negotiation Team is working to make gains on the priorities that members entrusted to them through the 2026 collective bargaining mandate.

Discussions at the bargaining table have started under better conditions than in the last round. While discussions have been constructive on some issues, they remain challenging, and progress is still needed on several important priorities. To achieve results, the Negotiation Team needs the support and participation of members.

By completing your commitment card, you demonstrate your resolve and support for the Negotiation Team and the mandate that members have entrusted to them.

Advancing Our Priorities

The Negotiation Team needs your support to make progress on key priorities from the 2026 collective bargaining mandate, namely:

• Strengthening collegial governance by ensuring APUO members’ meaningful participation in university decision-making and greater transparency and accountability from the administration;
• Addressing workload and the minimum number of full-time professors and librarians (staffing complement)
• Guaranteeing a space for childcare on campus; and
• Establishing safeguards to ensure that the adoption and use of artificial intelligence respects members’ rights, academic freedom, and working conditions and contributes to sound educational practice.

These priorities form part of the mandate that members have entrusted to the Negotiation Team. Our collective participation will demonstrate our resolve to win meaningful gains on these priorities.

Why Your Commitment Matters

Collective bargaining does not happen at the bargaining table alone. The Negotiation Team’s ability to secure progress also depends on the strength and participation of the members it represents.

A commitment card gives each member an opportunity to take a concrete action in support of the Negotiation Team. When a majority of members take action, we demonstrate our unity and strengthen the Negotiation Team’s ability to win at the bargaining table.
