APUO Members continue to increase the pressure by demanding that the employer negotiate a collective agreement that prioritizes and protects the core mission of our university.
872 out of 1235 active1 APUO members (more than 70%) have now signed the majority-petition demanding that the Employer fully engage with our proposals on workload, teaching support, administrative support, and democratizing decision-making.
You can add your name to the petition here.
During a press conference on Thursday, October 10, the APUO announced the delivery of the majority-petition to the Central Administration. This show of APUO membership unity was covered by French and English media:
- Université d’Ottawa: toujours sans convention collective, les profs haussent le ton (Le Droit)
- Professors, librarians sign petition demanding uOttawa engage in proposals to improve education (CTV News Ottawa)
Tomorrow, October 17, will be a full day of mediation between the APUO and Employer negotiating teams. To keep up our momentum, we strongly encourage you to add your name to those of the majority of your colleagues. This will allow your negotiating team to show the mediator and the employer that an overwhelming majority of APUO members strongly support our priority proposals. Every signature makes a difference.
We also invite you to save the date: on October 30, at noon, in front of Tabaret Hall, we’ll be holding a rally to highlight the importance of our bargaining proposals in defending the mission of the University of Ottawa. We will be sending more information on this event soon and hope to see you there. Don’t hesitate to invite your students; our working conditions have a direct impact on their learning conditions!
