The APUO joins the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) in expressing its solidarity with the 55,000 education workers represented by CUPE-Ontario School Board Council of Unions (OSBCU) as they contend with draft legislation removing their legal right to strike. Bill 28, Keeping Students in Class Act, represents an unprecedented attack on the collective bargaining process that could have a devastating impact on unions across the province. The APUO condemns the bad faith approach adopted by the Government of Ontario during its negotiations with CUPE-OSBCU.
We invite members to read the CAUT’s statement here. For information about joining pickets and to participate in other solidarity actions this Friday, see: https://cupe.on.ca/dontbeabully/
