Rally – Taking Back Our University

Join your fellow APUO members and the wider campus community at a rally on Wednesday, October 30 at noon on the Tabaret Lawn. Lunch will be provided.

This rally is your chance to take action and show the employer that we are going to stand up for our working conditions and our students’ learning conditions. Despite the challenges in this crucial round of bargaining, we can push back against their refusal to seriously engage on key priorities such as protecting high quality education and research, democratizing decision-making and addressing increased workloads.

This rally is an important opportunity to build on the success of our majority-petition and continue demonstrating widespread support for your bargaining priorities and the efforts of your Negotiation Team. We will raise awareness within the campus community about the issues at stake and build cross-campus solidarity with students and fellow uOttawa workers.

Make a Difference: Invite Your Colleagues and Students

Your voice matters. Talk to your colleagues about attending, download and share the rally poster

Talk to your students. Our working conditions are their learning conditions. By standing together, we can win significant improvements that benefit everyone. Students’ support will be critical in the coming days and weeks. We have developed a message you can share with your students over Brightspace and have created a slide that you can download and use to share the details of the rally at the beginning or end of your classes.

Pre-Rally Sign-Making Event

A sign-making session will take place on October 29 at the APUO offices (1 Nicholas street, suite 1204) from noon to 2 p.m. Join your APUO staff, executives and fellow Members in making signs highlighting the key issues that matter most to you!

We hope to see you on Tabaret Lawn at noon on October 30. Every Member’s presence counts. Strong and ongoing demonstrations of unity are key to indicate our commitment to achieving better working and learning conditions for a better university for all.
